OP while I agree with you, you have to realize everyone has it to varying degrees. Often times people with a repeating sound/word stutter and prolongation is often more socially acceptable (and recognizable) compared to something like a block where you just sit there for a solid 15 seconds looking like a dumbass looking like you forgot what to say. While I think its a bad thing to let it fully dicate your life, if you want to order food instead of going to the actual place, I don't think that is a problem either per say. Also as someone who is working on graduate school apps for psychology, you don't really need reserach paper to see that many people with a stutter/stammer suffer from anxiety and potentially AvPD (Avoidant Personality DIsorder) which I myself have never been diagnosed with but firmly believe I do indeed have it to a certain degree and I would assume many others also have it. While I like your thinking, to basically just say "man up lol" isn't solving anything because many of us recognize this, but it is harder for others than some may realize.
