Thank you for sharing this. I've come to similar conclusions. Some of my earliest memories are of being afraid of my father because he was an angry drunk. I'd try my best to be quiet and invisible. I think having that fear in me when first learning to speak caused my body to form faulty speech patterns. I only stutter when other people are listening. Never when I am alone or taking to my pets.
