I've never tried this myself (but probably should), but [these singer exercises](http://caricole.com/releasing-tension-and-stress-in-the-larynx-throat/) to loosen tension in the throat may be helpful. I took some Tai Chi classes a couple of years ago and we did facial stretching exercise that also may help.
