I feel you. I hate talking on the phone. Some things that helped me: Do it more often. It isn’t fun, but doing it over and over helped me get over the fear and embarrassment. It eventually gets easier and I got more fluent on the phone. I stopped trying to compensate. I used to close my eyes or take a sharp inhaled breath to try and ‘beat’ my stutter. I stopped doing those things (it’s a process and takes time and effort) and my fluency in general is much better. I hope that helps, even a little bit.
