Can we assume that at the core of OP’s discomfort is seeing how they imagine others perceive themself? The “ableist” discomfort is probably just a reflection of how OP feels about their own situation. Acknowledging why we may feel that uncomfortable hearing others struggle to speak is important. I’ve walked out of every movie with a stuttering character bc I couldn’t handle hearing it. This was years ago and I’d feel differently now. But it’s not bc i hated ppl who struggle to speak
