I had one guy mock me so much I thought he really had a stutter. He picked up on it either when I answered the phone or during our initial conversation. Sometimes on a minor stutter I don’t even realize im doing it. It went over the course of about 4 phone calls. Everyone is different, but when I come across the rare person that does stutter for some reason I’m more fluent. So he was stuttering away and I was fluent so he dropped the act and through those phone calls learned I was competent. I never forgot it though, it’s been 4 years I still deal with the same client, but it lets me know deep down what kind of guy he is. I had a security guard job in a large hospital before my current career that taught me more than four years of college ever could in how to talk to people and develop a thick skin. You have to shake it off and move on to the next because ultimately we think about our insignificant interactions far longer than the people we are interacting with. And back to the point, in every job I’ve had I had to prove myself more than others because of how I was perceived, but most people I know that stutter are like that and really work to master their craft because we need that confidence to rely on when the words don’t come out exactly right.
