I'm in the same situation. I stutter really bad in Hungarian (that is my first language), I can't even ask for a train ticket. But when I'm speaking in another language, it goes away almost completely. I have an English friend and he told me hadn't even noticed I have a stutter. Sometimes when I'm talking with my Hungarian friends and feel like I won't be able to say what I want without stuttering I just switch to English :D.
