I actually don't believe that 1% of the global population are stutterers. I'm 28, and I have never met another stutterer in person in my entire life. Not in primary school, high school, college, grad school, or at work. Not a single one. The only ones I know are people I met online. So yeah, that 1% is probably an overestimation.
