He has started stuttering less with me over time, and has said he stutters less around me and that feels nice. As far as me taking over in public- I usually don't. I feel like that would kind of be taking away his autonomy, and I literally don't wanna speak for him. And I don't wann leave him out of the convo. Thanks!
