Not consistent stuttering Hi, does anyone else consider themselves to have a non-consistent stutter? I’m 21 and I’ve stuttered all my life but the confusing thing for me and also for people I interact with is I’m not always consistent in my stuttering. I could have good periods of time either a day or a couple of weeks where I’m almost fluent, I will still trip and repeat some words during these ‘good periods’ but you wouldn’t necessarily know I have a stutter during these periods. But on the flip side of this I can also have really bad periods of time where my stutter feels like it’s gotten worse ten fold, I’ll get stuck on words and experience blocks more often and just overall struggle to get a sentence out. I would say my stutter at it’s default, what I’m like during my regular day to day is fairly moderate I will repeat entire words and parts of words but I talk at quite a fast pace so I don’t feel like it slows me down and I don’t experience much struggle with getting words out typically. But yea I’m really not consistent with it and sometimes it confuses people if when we first meet I just so happen to have a good day speech wise and then the next time we talk I’m either back to my default speech with my moderate stutter or having a bad day and have a much worse stutter so it’s like to them I suddenly gained a stutter out of nowhere 😅
