Thing that has helped me I’m 32. You are going to stand out no matter what. Not like “young and free yolo” but like your stutter will make you stand out. I had to stop thinking I’m going to stop stuttering. I will stutter my whole life. What I wanted was fluency. This takes time and fierce commitment. Constantly confronting that horrible awkward space of you stuttering. But press press on. We must speak. I have had a really hard time with f’s and s’s. I stopped thinking I would never stutter and started thinking how I could work with my stutter to say the word. On 4’s my brain likes to put a “ch” sound before the hard f sound. It sounds like “ch-four”. Next was six and seven. Tried saying zzzix and zzzeven. It work for a bit but stopped. I now use swix and sweven. Sure it’s obvious I’m saying it differently but way better than going breathless trying to say numbers. You are not alone. One thing that really helped me when I got older was communities like this. Anyone who stutters is THE MOST VETTED humble person alive. I love stutterers.. we have empathy.
