Speech therapy every weekday, year-round, from 3yo to 6yo, and in school I got moved into upper grades’ reading classes, to accelerate my handle on a wider and more complex vocabulary, which I guess wasn’t standard at the time (late 70’s). It ultimately worked, but it put this stuttering kid with wild curly hair and a very pronounced overbite on the radar of bullies twice my size, which made life a living hell of *constantly* getting my ass beaten after school.
