I hope you enjoy your Greek class. I loved taking Spanish in high school, even though I scored poorly on the speaking portion of assignments. Learning a language or learning about linguistics involves more than spoken communication. I liked learning to write, listen, and read in a new language. It may seem like life is being cruelly ironic by giving you a stutter and an interest in languages, but it’s not. I’ll bet you have a relationship to language and communication that no one else in your class does. Your experience living with a stutter may be one reason you are interested in languages in the first place.
