And married the best one 😁. It got a lot easier with practice. In one sense - it made me better. As much as I could, I would structure engagements with as much Q&A time as possible. For some reason I speak a lot better in back-and-forth as opposed to standing and delivering. And doing that got me a reputation as a “great listener” and “willing to stand up and take criticism”. Which my wife will tell you is complete BS, but anyway. The worst was presenting to the state legislature. My first time, I had no idea what to do, so I just took my predecessor’s draft presentation and went with that. It was very long-winded and the committee chair cut me off. In a room full of news cameras and a hundred or so people. Absolutely humiliating.
