I went to law school and have stuttered my whole life. I graduated and also passed the bar, so I am an attorney, though I don’t practice anymore. Don’t listen to that professor. You don’t have to “fix” your stuttering. Just stutter well when you do. Law school people are thoughtful usually and aren’t going to make fun of you. I remember being so afraid of the Socratic method and being called upon. But to be honest, I never stuttered one being called on during law school. Worrying about stuttering was far worse than the actual stutter, and that might be the case for you. Anyway, don’t give up! If I did it, you can, too. There is a book about stuttering written by an attorney who stuttered during law school and work. I didn’t really agree with his theories but basically, law school IS possible with a stutter. Lastly years ago I went to an NSA meeting and met another attorney who was seriously big time in the legal world. He was a mentor to me and he proved that not only can you be an attorney with a stutter, you can be a highly successful one. My attorney friend stutters all the time, but he doesn’t let it get to him and it’s no big deal.
