I stutter and am in school to be a Speech-Language Pathologist. It is very unlikely that an SLP will see you just to "make a diagnosis". Stuttering is usually not something that needs to be diagnosed. It is more like a piece of personal information you share with your doctor, like family history or whether or not you smoke. I would be surprised if a doctor didn't believe that you have a stutter 😂 If you'd really like to have something put on your medical record, your best bet is to just bring it up with your general care physician the next time you see them. If you're looking for speech therapy, it sounds like you're on the right track. I am not familiar with the Canadian healthcare system, but in the US, people usually initiate services by talking to their doctor or reaching out to aprivate practice directly.
