I dont know if I would go on a ADHD drug to exclusively treat stuttering, and I would have my doubts if a doctor would prescribe this for your stutter alone (obviously if you suspect you have ADHD, different story). Studies show that stutters have high dopamine levels in certain areas of the brain where as in ADHD, low level of dopamine are reported, so I'm not exactly how that works if your taking meds to increase dopamine. With that being said I recently was diagnosed with ADHD (38) and have been on adderall for only a week. Its probably to early to make any opinion on it. At first glance, definitely helping with ADHD symptoms. Stutterwise i think it has been about the same. I have had an occasional long block but it may have been because of the situations. Like /u/9toenails has said, I think it may help in terms of focus, blocking out the inrush of thoughts, and maybe drain the baclground distractions. I dont know if its directly impacting the stutter. TLDR; dont use it for stuttering treatment, only if you have adhd as well. Does not effect fluency directly, but can help focus during disfluency which may help you navigate the blocks easier. Not a magic pill. Edit: words
