i just think since everyone else does it in times of embarrassment, lying, etc.,thats all they know. some people arent mean just to be mean and genuinely dont know its a disability, so of course meeting someone with a stutter will immediately lead to those conclusions and them to react in the way theyre used to. I've made plenty of friends that would make fun of me at first but after a while they would apologize and cease to talk about it again. They would ask me about it and actually wanna understand me. I do live in a town thats closed-minded about things like this, i think thats why i gave them the benefit of the doubt. It did hurt my feelings though ngl, it greatly lowers the chance of me being closer to them as friends lmao but at least theyre a friend
