What you are saying is harmful. Alcohol, controlled substances, bizarre surgeries and “extreme drugs” will not actually help anybody. I’m sorry you think any of it can help. There are actually safe and free habits that can result in sustainable outcomes of dramatically increased ability to communicate and less anxiety. I’ve posted about them in the sub. Most blocking stutters actually have the same source - after getting the message that your repetitions were weird, your brain began trying very hard to hide them, resulting in anxiety, unwanted valsalva maneuvers which block airflow, and a litany of avoidance behaviors. Most of us have nearly identical fears and avoidance behaviors. Consequently, the solution to fear-based blocking is to learn to be comfortable with letting others hear your repetitions. There are tangible steps that make it easy and accessible. While it’s true that we care about our stutter more than others, that is not enough for many here.
