Stutter due to fear caused by parents Hey guys, so I have an issue with my dad where I feel that over the years he has slightly given me the feeling that I have to make sure whatever I say is perfect, otherwise his tone may become rude or he may become critical or irritated. Due to the way I feel about this, I feel like it has overall made me feel less safe to expressive myself, which I feel is contributing to my stuttering. Because my stuttering is just a defense mechanism to keep me safe. I don’t want to totally put down my dad or blame him because regardless, the world is cold and I’ll have to deal with difficult people anyways. But anyone have this experience? And what do you do to overcome the anger against a parent? Do you believe that your view of your own expression has been disproportionately shaped by a few interactions with someone close to you? Thanks
