For a number of years I was the Tech Sales guy in a couple of big IT consultancies. I'd accompany the main sales guy who got appointments, did cold calling and all of that. I would accompany him to sales calls to work out the technical details of our services with the clients, to see if a sale could be made. Quite high pressure because the sales guy worked on commission and the company required a big sales pipeline so it was often up to the Tech Sales guy, me, to close the big sale. I've always stuttered. Some days worse than others. However, I was told by several professional sales guys that I was the best tech sales guy they've ever worked with. Why? The stutter. They said the stutter made me seem believable and true. Not the slick tongued fast talking sales guy but an earnest and honest tech guy explaining the realities of the sale. So, in my case, my stutter helped my Tech Sales job immensely. Go for it.
