Interruption from the others gave me stutter Hi! My long-long-gone stutter reappeared after moving into another country, and I strongly suspect that it happened because of my new Arabic friends. In the culture where I grew up in, interrupting someone's speech is extremely disrespectful and everyone waits for their turn when the other person is clearly done. But I immediately noticed that oftentimes when I started a sentence, they would just overlap my speech with theirs, sometimes even about a completely unrelated topic. It was really annoying and I quickly started being afraid when initiating speech (especially when making that initial gasp) that I would be not able to continue. I developed stutter few weeks after that and I am anxious because subconsciously I don't know anymore whether my conversation partner will listen to me or start talking instead of me. Of course it was not the sole reason, but I blame 80% of it on the interruptions. Don't get me wrong, I love my friends and they are very neat people otherwise, and I cannot dictate anyone to change some part of their culture, but it really sucks. I have been mildly stuttering for 6 months now and it got worse 3 months ago. Does anyone have suggestions on my situation?
