"I have a neurological problem" - Explaining my stutter to other people I've started to be a bit more open about my stutter. For example, when it happens in front of my coworkers, I make an effort to mention it instead of acting like nothing happened. Instead of just saying "I have a stutter" and leaving it at that, I introduce it by saying "I have a neurological problem", and *then* I bring up the stutter. I feel pretty good about this approach because I think it makes it pretty clear that it's something I can't control. What do you guys think? How do you talk about your stutter, and do you feel like the message gets across properly? Also, I'm really curious to know: what has been your experience with stuttering in the workplace, especially in customer service-related fields? I'm thinking of telling one of my supervisors the next time I see her. I hope everything goes well!
