Why is everyone suddenly into talking now instead of chat/email?

Why is everyone suddenly into talking now instead of chat/email? I used Facebook and other social media during their early days in 2008. Back then it seemed like people were comfortable chatting (by text) on that plaform no matter who you were reaching out to......whether it was a mutual friend, a contact one of your friends had suggested (eg: " Oh this is the go-to guy for poker advice"), or an old classmate, or even someone you thought you knew (but had confused with someone else......yeah people have accepted my friend request despite not knowing who I am and then chatting with me about where they know me from). But now it seems like that culture is dead. First off, Facebook has become even more personal and restrictive. No matter who you try to reach out to, they immediately go " CALL ME AT THIS NUMBER AND WE CAN TAKE IT FROM THERE! " Nobody wants to type any f\*\*\*\* words any more! No chat at all. Just straight to a phone call. Even if its a quick 4 word question you have, it always must end up in a phone call. I feel like the kid hiding under the table from the Terminator in that famous meme all the time. Why the f\*ck can't you just chat man!? Why are you sending me an email to plan a phone call when you can just answer the damn question in the email itself. I made so many friends and built so many relationships in 2008-2011 just by chatting with people online, but YOU CAN'T DO THAT ANYMORE!
