Hey, I've started seeing these situations as opportunity in disguise, this gives you an opportunity to practice, and this mindset has made my life infinitely better. When the bus driver asks your name again, 'TRY' to stutter. Yes, you heard that right, attempt a voluntary stutter with easy onset. 'Hi, I'm M-M-M-Marvin'. Keep eye contact. Once you attempt to stutter voluntarily, you will stop being so tense, and maybe even start enjoying the process of speaking without worrying too much about your stutter. Once you do this enough, you slowly start losing the fear and anxiety related to your stutter, and you'll start viewing the stutter as just 'something that you sometimes do', nothing more, nothing less. IT IS BETTER TO BE STUTTER FREELY THAN TO PRETEND TO BE A PERFECT SPEAKER! So, please be your authentic self, and until the day there is actual cure for stutter, continue to stutter freely..... Do this in COFFEE SHOP. Do this in PHONE CALLS to customer service... Do this occasionally with your friends/family ... I GUARANTEE you that you will feel FREE and OPEN, and feel good about yourself that you had a courage to show your AUTHENTIC side. Consequently you will start stuttering less and less. Try it and let us know how it went!
