For formal meetings with structure, I plan ahead. I write notes and ensure I know the topic. This makes it much easier to focus on technique and getting to say what I want, how I want to say it. I avoid all small talk but that would be out of place anyway. It's different for social, unstructured situations. I avoid extraverted people that expect a high level of speaking skill and body language since I cannot deliver that. And I have given up on these people. They get what I can muster and I don't care about technique. For the people that are left, they are more chill and soft spoken. These are the people that makes remembering technique easier when it feels awkward to not speak slowly.. with pauses for breathing. However, I'm in my late 40ies now. There is no way I could've used any of this back in my 20ies when I just wanted to have friends and party. But this is what I do to remember my technicque.
