Well mine is very mild to be honest, so I cannot speak for everyone, but it's fine for me, doesn't bother me what so ever, most days I go without stuttering and it's fine to communicate. I think the biggest issue is depending if you're working freelance and you have to explain every little detail and you have to use correct terminologies and what not, etc. For me personally? it hasn't affected me what so ever, one thing that I will share though is that I'm a fast speaker, always have been and I was in an interview and it was essentially my sisters friends who I was interviewing for, it was a startup company, nothing major, but they were raking in some serious money as they were taking on a lot of projects. There were two guys in charge, to keep anonymity, there is guy 1 and guy 2, I spoke with guy 1 on the phone, he was the friend of my sisters, he was rather cool, straight forward and seemed like the sort of person you could get along with and what not, I then added him on FB, he shared his details, where he was located and if I had any further questions? Do not hesitate to ask and all that shit. I did in-fact mention to the guy that I do have a slight speech impediment and that I was a little nervous about the interview and what not, obviously he passed this onto guy 2 with what I'm about to tell you next. (Bear in mind, I only specified this as they WERE friends and stuff like that, if they were not friends of the family, I would never specify this). I get to the interview and you get asked basic questions; * What is your experience like? * Have you go examples of your work? * Why did you leave your old company/place of work? * What did they have you do there? * What languages are you familiar with? * What are your strongpoints and so on and so on. Now back onto the point that I'm trying to make, while in the interview, I was talking like my normally fast self, it's not overly fast, but it's not below the average speaking rate, I would say, I would say a moderately fast while being understood speaking rate. Guy 2, during one of my questions said either "slow down or calm down, take your time", now in the interview, I felt as if this was extremely condescending and it really annoyed me. Now I realise that some people are not accustom to others speaking in a fast way or whatever, but it just seemed a little rude to me, this happened a few times throughout the working process (I did in-fact get that job there). So I guess my point throughout this whole thing is, when you go in there, do not try and rush what you're trying to say, even if you are a fast speaker, just take your time and stuff like that. I had to purposefully slow down my speech and that was it, in the end I left the company after a month as I did not enjoy the environment I was in, I was working til very late and it wasn't suitable for me, but hey. Good luck anyway dude, I hope this helps.
