I’ve commented here before on someone asking a similar question. I can tell you that I suffered the most in college. People don’t understand it and you’re constantly either having to socialize and speak up in class. It gets easier. Not in that your stutter fades or anything but you begin to own it. Once you’ve come to terms with that then it becomes such a unique identifier. If you have the balls, just make a joke about it before speaking up and then people aren’t wondering why you are stuttering. I’ve always found that I stutter more when I’m tense or nervous. Once you are more relaxed, articulation follows. Just speak slower and raise your voice some and it comes across as confidence. Plus chicks dig a guy with a stutter (or vice versa). It’s an endearing quality. But don’t pity yourself or others won’t accept it. Own it and everyone is okay with it. It’s who you are! You’re gonna do fine trust me. I went from being in your shoes to being in a career that is centered around presenting in front of big clients. I stutter still but as long as I’m confident in what I’m saying then it’s a minor nuisance, if that.
