Another tip is to prep by writing out your ‘schpiel’ or talking points before hand so you can get crisp on what you need to get across…and plan around trouble words. I like to almost write a script or at least a flow of how I’ll answer expected questions. But the key is to write it how you would organically say it… make it natural and authentic to you. No need to be overly formal or feel like you have to rehash everything on your resume. Less is more so focus on showing them who you are beyond your resume - and don’t feel like you need to talk a lot simply to read off your resume. Focus on some concise talking points you want to have organized in your brain so can pull into conversation where it fits in. Deliberate, thoughtful speaking style will serve you well in IB interviews and the industry in general… in an industry full of talkers and showboaters and ‘politicians’ be the guy who shoots it straight and leads with content not lip service. I work in financial services as SVP at top 10 bank…and have been through multiple rounds of IB interviews and now often conduct interviews in hiring for my team as well so happy to provide further insight on what you can expect.
