It is normal to speak more fluently in front of people you are more comfortable with. To be clear, "more fluently" does not mean "completely fluently", as I still stutter even when I speak to my parents (with whom I am very comfortable) or even when talking to myself. But anxiety makes stuttering much worse, even if it's not the ultimate cause of stuttering.
