Something you could start right now...with not very much IT skill is being an IT contractor on Upwork (or a similar site). You can even start getting IT jobs with just basic HTML editing skills. (Those won't pay much, until you get more skills, but they're great practice.) Almost all of these require no verbal communication, only written communication. Fiverr (and similar sites) is another option of doing work requiring only nonverbal communication. Someone else mentioned that pretty much any IT job will have a daily or weekly "stand up" meeting. But a lot of these are remote, and a lot of these are just status reports (according to Agile theory, they're supposed to be more than that, but in reality, most are just status reports). So, I think that most IT bosses would be okay if you asked them, "hey, i really don't like talking during the meeting, because i stutter. would you be okay if i just typed my comments into the chat? or if i pre-recorded a status message every day on video that i could play? i stutter a lot less when i'm just recording video of myself." I'd guess that 80-95% of all bosses or project managers would say something like, "sure, you can just type into chat for pretty much all of the standup. you may need to talk a little bit, but i understand and i'll try to keep at a minimum how much you have to verbally communicate." The other thing is, that the better programmer you are, then the more leeway and accommodations that everyone's going to give you. If you're one of the top programmers in the company, then pretty much any boss is going to say, "sure. don't speak if you don't want to. as long as you keep delivering, then i don't care if you never speak." But if you're just a junior guy then the boss isn't going to be quite as flexible with you. Oh, and my answer to your question is programmer. Oh, and one other thing...is that with working with people in other countries, then a lot of the time they'll prefer written communication, rather than verbal...just because it's way easier to use google translate on an email, rather than on a skype call. So the more you can get a job with working with people in other countries that only have minimal English ability, then the higher chance you have of all the communication being nonverbal.
