Need to rant. Had the worst phone interview I've had in my life. I just finished up with a phone interview for a summer internship. It was just so bad and I could feel how uncomfortable the interviewer was every time I blocked. That compounded with my anxiety and just made my speech a fucking mess. I've worked for years doing software development and I returned to school to change careers. This job description seems like a piece of cake--it was a super entry level internship for a sophmore or junior. It's just when it came to me describing my background, I felt like I would block whenever I wanted to say a name of certain technologies and I wasn't able to answer her questions fully. When I blocked, I would sub out the words for other ones, but I'm pretty sure it made me seem like a complete idiot because you can't really substitute out proper nouns. When it came to the end of the interview, it was obvious that she wanted to finish it as quickly as possible. Fuckin' A. /rant It would probably be easier if I had said that I had a stutter beforehand, but I feel like that would negatively impact me during the interview process... 'cuz who would want someone that's shit at communicating at their company?
