I used to just be straightforward with people. Say something along the lines of "you're really going to make fun of me for something I can't help??" Usually that stopped it because others were like wow, that guy who made of you is a real asshole. Jr High and High School were brutal for me but I can imagine it's gotten worse as the years go on.
