I had some friends from my neighborhood that I was able to parlay into more friends. If you're starting from complete scratch, I would join as many extra curricular programs as you can. Sports would be a great one. I used humor a lot. Maybe watch some stand up and lift some bits you can reword and drop into casual conversation.Hygiene and clothing is a big one. We have much less margin for error when it comes to what we present the world. We struggle to control our stutter, but what we can control is how we look and smell. Max those out. Get a good cologne (nothing too strong in high school, something light, Mont Blanc Explorer maybe) and try to dress as well as you can. It doesn't have to be expensive clothes, just well put together. Clean, unwrinkled etc. Keep the hair looking good too. The most important thing is dust yourself off everyday and keep fighting. There will be moments of abject cringe that make you want to burrow into a hole, but you cannot do that. Overcoming stuttering is all about inertia. Keep going, keep pushing, keep putting yourself out there. It's a cold, hard world and there is always demand for dependable good men. Max out all the things in your life you do have control over and people will end up being drawn to you. Be competitive in all other aspects of your life. The way you look, the shape you are in etc.
