Work forced me. When I was young I worked for my dad's auto shop and delivered cars/parts. I also had to get the guys their coffees and muffins every morning, which was the scariest part of life for me. Career-wise, I got an opportunity to work in journalism at 19 and stayed in it for several years. That was a trial by fire but definitely developed my social skills. In general, I like/need to be forced by my environment to do some of these things.
