Anyone else develop an avoidant personality due to their stutter? As a younger person I was a lot less avoidant than I am now as a 27-year-old. I avoid every non-essential situation that requires talking, whether this be hanging out with friends, asking an employee at a store a question, and embarrassingly enough, I will sometimes not even thank someone when they do me favor. This problem has gotten so bad that I've even began to avoid necessary situations. I may be exaggerating a bit, but this stuttering issue has me feeling like my brain is deteriorating in slow motion. Like, I'm still somewhat sharp in some respects, but my verbal abilities as a whole are diminishing in quality.
