Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was looking down on anybody. And I certainly didn't mean to imply a stutter is 'ignorable'. I was only trying to convey the difference it made in my life when I started to become less embarrassed by my stutter - the mental strain you mentioned is immeasurably lessened. I still block, I still stutter, and it's still a fucking nightmare, of course, but one that no longer keeps me awake at night. Again, sorry if I came across flippant - my reply was intended to help OP based on my own experience and not meant as a hot take on stuttering in general.
