If your therapy isn’t transferable outside of the sessions , it’s not quality therapy and has not addressed the actual issues. The problem isn’t US. The problem is that if you have blocks based on fear, most SLP’s are untrained to address THAT issue. I’ve known many who even struggle to recognize a “covert stutter”, indicating they are unaware of the aspects of this challenging (and sometimes debilitating) situation. The solution is to use the many free online resources provided for SLPs *with advanced training in dysfluency*. They will suggest you develop new habits that address the actual issue - including learning how to use voluntary stuttering, making eye contact (or equivalent!), and using exhales instead of “take a breath”.
