I think you’re thinking like a crab in a bucket. Your diabetic friend gets financial support because their insulin is insanely expensive and they can’t miss doses. I think severe stutterers should get disability. Because it’s much harder to get employed and it’s from no fault of their own. Unfortunately the way our systems currently work, I think many (non stutterers) would be opposed to that. How does someone prove they are a severe stutterer? What if someone just doesn’t want to work and can pretend they stutter severely for the right appointments? Who will determine the criteria of who stutters enough for financial support? I absolutely think it should be classified as a disability, but I’m not sure what that would look like for the government. But for your friends with diabetes it’s clear as day. They have indisputable proof of their condition, it’s well understood, and it’s common. So they get their rightful support, while stutterers who need it still wait.
