BTW, I think the teacher should have stepped in, especially if he knew you stuttered before you spoke. He might have suggested some alternative assignment. He or she should have used it for a teaching moment for the entire class, too. That is REAL teaching, the kind you remember. Not all teachers are good, and maybe they were freaked out for some reason, but they utterly failed at a core aspect of their job.
