Try this : 1. go far from your place where there is no one near and scream as loud as you can. Then come back and speak (scream for long, jump, if you can punch grass do that, don't just yell say anything which comes in your mind at that time). This activity is about expressing yourself alone aggressively. 2. Download a metronome app get a pair of earphones and set the metronome for say 90bpm and speak the words of your sentences on the beats of the metronome. Then gradually increase the bpm to the point of normal speech BPM or more if you feel like experimenting. Start slow then Gradually move to faster tempos. (Fill your lungs with air before speaking and use every bit of it till the end like oxygen is your fuel) 3. I confuse my brain sometimes with chewing gum. Or if i can't get one I swallow a paper and talk to people. Your brain will be busy thinking about chewing and less on your speech. This is how i manage talking to phone calls for which I am not confident. 4. Don't be scared of speaking in front of people they aren't gonna kill you. So there is no need to activate your brain's fight , freight, flee response for no reason nor impressing them is gonna give you a billion dollar cheque. (Keep this in mind before every conversation) 5. Start your day with tongue twisters and say them for the whole day even if you're sitting idle. Imagine you're training for the whole day. 6. Your breath is your fuel ( are you breathing properly? ) 7. Socialising with good people can build back trust in humanity for you ( in my case i thought people were impatient but there are some great listeners in this world.) 8. As soon as you breathe in start speaking (there should be no gap in your speaking time and your breathe out time.) This confuses your brain. 9. Do you sing in shower ? No ? Do it ! Then put this exercise in real life. Imagine your sentences are verses or chorus of your favourite song or your made up song. And try hard to confuse your brain to think you're singing when you try to speak. 95% people don't stutter when they sing because the airflow is pretty perfect in that activity. (Speak as if you're singing). 10. You can use some hidden body movements to get the words out. Mine are like ... Imagine i get stuck on the word COLD. - I would touch my tongue to the lower front teeths and pronounce the COLD and try to confuse my brain i am doing something else. This buys me enough time to speak COLD easily. - You can keep switching between lower frontal teeth and upper frontal teeth. And keep on confusing your brain rapidly. This requires a lot of practice and timing. - raise your eyebrows, tap with your foot gently, tap your thigh with your hand gently or do any sort of natural movement or make one for yourself which can get you out of vocal blockage situations. 11. Buy William D. Parry's book ( Understanding & Controlling Stuttering: A Comprehensive New Approach Based on the Valsalva Hypothesis ). Watch his youtube channel too. 12. Ever gave a day for yourself thinking/developing your own techniques that can get you speaking in no time? You have to do it because everyone's stutter is different and not all techniques work for everyone. 13. No one's gonna kill you for speaking! Why scared? You don't need a therapist or an SLP. All you need is a Self Trust ( It is the biggest thing in the World ).
