IIRC there’s been some successes in non invasive magnetic stimulation in wericke’s and Broca’s area...though i don’t think that’s ever been conclusively determined be the exact causation of stuttering. That’s why there is no cure and won’t be for the foreseeable future. It’s pathology cannot be pinpointed. “...The etiology of stuttering is still largely unknown and a unifying hypothesis of the pathogenesis is lacking [8]. One hypothesis is that stuttering is associated with temperamental or personality traits of shyness or anxiety [9]; a second is that stutterers know when they are about to stutter, and this awareness influences occurrences of stuttering and its treatment [10,11]. A third hypothesis is that developmental stuttering is due to a basal ganglia defect involving a deficit in brain timing networks [12] and/or brain structural connectivity differences associated with impaired auditory-motor integration.” Toward a Theory of Stuttering Mawson A.R.a · Radford N.T.b · Jacob B.c While stem cells seem to offer hope and solid progress for many conditions. I don’t see it trickling down to us anytime soon either. Not to minimize the affliction but those advancements and research are prolly going to be invested in spinal cord injury, strokes, Parkinson’s, cancer and so on so forth for the foreseeable future. I am completely certain however that my stutter is not a result of my temperamental personality lol. I’m confident it will one day be determined to be a neurologic “misfire” of some sort.
