The Veterans Affairs (in the US) classifies stuttering as a mental disorder. My assumption based on that has been stuttering is majority effected by something going on up in my noggin. Something’s make it worse, some make it better. Anxiety and confidence are both all mental, so it makes sense that those also effect stuttering
