Thanks for your input. You are lucky that you do not struggle with the intensity of stutter where you end up giving a false name just give up and say nothing! Having occasional repetitions of blocks is certainly common - having debilitation blocks is a much different story. People’s “smartness” has nothing to do with this. I’ve known multiple highly credentialed SLP’s who simply received no training in dysfluency and did not even recognize the blocks and dramatic and very odd avoidance behaviors are indeed a secondary aspect of a significant panic-based stutter. Your “advice” is based on your own personal experience and would be harmful if someone with *a different experience* followed it.
