For me its opposite. I was stuttering much less in my country than abroad. I'm in a english speaking country and around people with various level of English proficiency. I'm finding it extremely difficult to clear job interviews because I'm not able to give my best in those 30 minutes even when I have right skills qualifications and experience. One hiring manager asked me on face that how will I survive in the sector which is a communication heavy role.
