What would you compare stuttering to? As a disability, it’s hard to nail down how it should be treated. What I mean is, on the one hand, I don’t think it’s okay to define someone by there stutter by any means. But on the other, I kinda get offended when people (friends and family in particular) think that it’s such a little thing that it’s NEVER a problem for me. Not to play the victim card, but some of the people I’m close don’t really understand how I may struggle in interactions, especially if they only see me when I’m comfortable, vs say at a job interview. So when I’m talking to someone else and trying to compare stuttering to another disability in hopes of connecting with them, what would be an fair comparison in your eyes?
