“Yeah yeah I have a stutter too” I hear this All. The. Time. Everywhere I go, people seem to have a stutter. When the truth is, they don’t. They have maybe emotional disfluencies. Stuttering isn’t just when you have to present, it’s 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I’m absolutely tired of people complaining about how they stuttering through their whole presentation. I was there. They didn’t stutter once. I did in my presentation, and you don’t see me complaining. I’m absolutely tired of people thinking it’s okay to make fun of stutters because they “have one.” I was in speech therapy for 10 years, and I struggle with it every day. I am a stutterer, and I still struggle my emunciation sometimes. You are not. Disclaimer: I understand emotional disfluencies are a very real thing and a lot of people struggle with them, but I am ranting about the people who use as excuses for things and such.
