Try gentle onsets. Start with humming, then slowly begin the L, for example, by pressing your tongue in the correct location. Also, I agree that telephone practice will help desensitize you, but you still need tools to work with when you get in trouble. Also, know where your breath is. Sometimes you block, panic, and lose your technique. Just pause and calm down, get your breath right, and try again gently.
