Big Interview Today I [21M] am a senior studying Cyber Defense & Information Assurance in the U.S..I’ve had trivial internships already that were basic IT ventures (Think desktop support, cable installation, etc.). For my university there has always been a significant amount of students that graduate without the hands on experience they need to stand out in the field immediately after graduation. I was fortunate enough to put my nose to the grindstone and study my hardest. 7/8ths of the way done with university and I finally have an opportunity to intern as a Penetration Testing consultant if this interview goes well! This is the second round of interviews and the first round group seemed incredibly impressed with my educational background and passion for the field. I stumbled and stammered through the majority of the interview, but they really enjoyed me! The main interviewer even gave me his contact information to try his other business if this company decides to go a different route! I’m studying my arse off with just under an hour to go until I’m on video chat with the head manager and other heads of the department. I have a notepad ready with queues and reminders, even printing off their research data from the past two years to show my interest and dedication to learning about the field in a more practical sense than trivial knowledge. Well, I’m signing off for a bit to study. Just wanted to share this experience and hope it can aid as a reminder that the stutter never defines you! Learn to love it and embrace the challenge it provides for you. Who knows where I would have ended up if I didn’t work twice as hard to get to where I am today. Stay well and keep your heads up!
