Career choice and stuttering is an obstacle I have been working as a software engineer for about 12 years now . Originally I am from India and I make good money in USA. I have a son who is 3 years old with speech delay issues . Recently my father has been diagnosed with cancer and he stays in India with my mother and brother’s family . Because of cancer my father has to travel to nearest city almost every week . Unfortunately my brother cannot take him to hospital every week since he is into family business and closing business a day every week would be very costly . He might lose his clients . All my family members except my wife are asking me to stay in my hometown and join family business . We are making good money in family business also I can definitely say much better than what I make in USA. But because it’s a small town and I have to interact with same people every day my stuttering gets worse . I have tried spending my time in business for few months and I can conclude my stuttering is getting way worse than I thought . Now I am Very sad to leave my father in middle of cancer treatment and go to USA . My stuttering at work in USA is not as bad as here in my town . May be my conversations are not as personal as in my small town . To further complicate things my son has been diagnosed with speech delay issues , we are taking him to a speech therapist everyday in India however the therapy is not as advanced as in USA . This gives me another reason to go . TD;LR : I want to stay in my home town but my stuttering is stopping me . I am just venting out my frustration.
